FAQ:
THE IMPORTANT COPYRIGHT INFO:
Find your own artistic voice- the world is waiting to hear it!
Please be advised- you receive login id’s to view your courses. We will track all logins. If we notice that you are logging in to your course from multiple locations and viewing the content many more times than is common for a course-taker, we will assume that you are trying to share your login and password with your friends, and your account may be terminated. We offer these courses as an economical way for you to learn lots about polymer clay, and the course content is provided by real live working artists. This is their livelihood. Please don’t be unethical and try to steal it. All content is copyright of the artist, and all rights are reserved. You can download the content for your own use. You may not sell or share the content, patterns, projects, videos, photos and/or audio. Copyright is a sticky issue in art- use common sense. You wouldn’t want people copying your work and selling it as their own, so don’t do that to someone else. We will prosecute copyright infringement to the fullest extent of the law.
How can I tell if I want to take a course?
You can read the title for all posts in a course by simply clicking on the course name in the sidebar. Browse the titles and read the first post, this will tell you what the course is about and what you will learn.
How do I sign up and take a course?
You sign up and choose the membership you would like- by clicking the course name. Our website will charge you for the course through Paypal. You do not need a paypal account, you can use your credit or debit card if you prefer, but Paypal will still be the payment-taker for us. After signing up, you will have a user name and password to this site. After that, when you login to the site, all the topics in your course(s) will be available to you to read and view, including the video and audio links.
Is it interactive?
www.polymerclay.ning.com This is our network. You will receive an invitation to join a private discussion group after you sign up for a class. In the network, you will interact with others taking your class, and in many cases, your teacher will be in there too to answer questions. If there is absolutely no teacher interaction in a course, that will be stated in the course description so you are aware before signing up. Be advised- all invites to private groups are approved by the site moderator- so you won’t be able to invite your friends who haven’t paid for a course. Please don’t try.
How long are the courses?
There is a lot of content in a course- and it is designed to gradually increase your knowledge so when you are done, you have learned a lot. We realize that some folks have more time than others- and might want to advance more quickly, for example you might have time to do all the lessons in a week! Great, go for it. Once you log in, all the course content is available to you. Just be sure to do the course in order from the first lesson to the last. Your login will be good for as long as you need to view all the content and learn it.
Are there prerequisites?
There are no prerequisites, although for courses in a category, such as caning, it would be better if you have some knowledge before taking a higher-level course, or take the courses in order. Please use common sense. If you know nothing about caning, do not sign up for advanced flower caning prior to learning the basics.
Will there be more courses?
The short answer is yes. The long answer is- it takes a lot of time to create a course that is rich in content. We are always forging new relationships with teachers and advancing our own knowledge- and we are always in the process of creating new project and course ideas for you. Polymer clay is an almost limitless craft. We like to push the boundaries and encourage others to come along for the ride! If you sign up for our network, we will keep you in the loop with updates when we release a new course.
